Backwater Calls
by Me, Simo "Smoo" Prsti

 - Introduction:

Thank you for downloading Backwater Calls - my first BoA scenario. It is intended for parties thirty and up. I've noticed that the combat gets ridiculously easier if your party has beaten Canopy an/or Bahssikava. If you want the fights to be as difficult as they are indented (granted, that may not be so difficult) and you don't have a level 30 party lying around - use Kelandon's High Level Party Maker located, for example, at: http://www.avernum.com/blades/scen_stuff/utility.html

I want to thank the betatesters that helped me make Backwater Calls. Without you this scenario would have more bugs and slightly less features.

	CUSTOM-GRAPHICS:
		*NecrisOmega
			- I swapped the colors of his Balrog graphic into blue and used it as Kaejil Nyh'yltak.
*Other custom graphics are either from the prepacked scenarios or from the geneforge series. Some modified by me.
*The first splash screen picture is from "Icewind Dale II" and the third is googled.

A NOTE ABOUT THE STEEL PLATED HELM!
*Boa doesn't actually support custom graphics in items. Meaning that if you leave the scenario with the steel plated helm (from the goblin caves) the helmet will not be available in other scenarios. There is a way for you to keep the helmet, however, using copying and pasting.
		1) First, open the G511 graphic file. You need to copy the rectangle with the helmet in it (first rectangle). Then open the G1044 graphic file from the Item Graphics folder. Notice that the last two rectangles are empty. Paste the helmet into the first available slot.
		2) Next, open the remotedata.txt text file. Locate the "Steel plated helm" (begindefineitem 449) and change the value of the "it_floor_which_sheet" to 1044 and the "it_inventory_icon" to 8.
*Since I'm a Pc-user I have no idea if this works on Mac. I can only assume that it's the same thing.

*Also the riddle in the infernal pit is not by me. It is from the (now freeware) game Betrayal at Krondor.

	HINTS:
*I don't think there are that many places where you can get stuck. If you have problems just post a question at the spiderweb forums at http://www.ironycentral.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi
	I'll give some hints, though:
		1) If you find some peculiar switches and can't figure out what to do with them. Then that means you haven't done what a certain grumpy old man wanted you to do.
		2) If you get blasted to smithereens by certain emblems. Then that means that you are either a very cruel human being who's sneaking around in old wizards' huts, unlocking their doors and not doing what they ask of you. Or that you are just way too good a fighter and you just waltzed through a demon barricade. Anywho, turn back, return later, a special item will shield you against the emblems.

*New versions can be obtained from my website at koti.mbnet.fi/simop

*Anywho... all this said, I hope you enjoy Backwater Calls. Or if you can't bring yourself to enjoy it, I hope playing it won't be immensely painful.
